Ames Family Dental began in 1971 with Dr. Donald Good’s dedication to high-quality restorative care. In 2009, Dr. Brandon Patten joined the team after serving in the U.S. Navy. After experiencing a more rigid style of dental care, he knew he wanted something different for his patients. A place where people feel seen and cared for as real people, not just treated for a problem.
Today, our team blends modern technology and ongoing education with a classic Midwestern, down-to-earth approach. The goal is always the same: honest guidance, comfortable visits, and care that supports your health for the long run.

Dr. Brandon M. Patten, D.D.S.
Dr. Patten is proud to return to his Iowa roots after serving his country in the United States Navy Dental Corps. Originally from Spencer, Dr. Patten gained invaluable experience completing a residency at Naval Hospital Great Lakes and serving two years aboard the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt. He concluded his service at the Naval Dental Center Mid-Atlantic in Norfolk, Virginia, before bringing his skills home to serve his local community.
When he isn’t caring for smiles, Dr. Patten loves life as a family man. He and his wife, Dr. Corrie Patten (a pediatrician at McFarland Clinic PC in Ames) love making memories with their three children and enjoying quality time with friends and extended family.

Outside the office, Dr. Altaie is all about family time. She loves exploring the outdoors with her husband and their two children, whether they are biking, fishing, or swimming. On quieter days, she enjoys relaxing with her family for a cozy movie marathon on Netflix.
